Advocacy

How to Access Services

Individual Advocacy

Individual advocacy means one-on-one support focused on your goals, needs, and choices. Our advocates partner with individuals and families to:

  • Understand rights, options, and systems
  • Navigate education, services, and benefits
  • Problem solve challenges
  • Connect to community and professional supports
  • Strengthen self-advocacy and decision making

We work in a collaborative, respectful, and least intrusive way, centered on what matters most to you.\

Community Advocacy

We work with individuals, families, schools, service providers, and local leaders to promote inclusive practices and accessibility throughout Mesa County. Our community advocacy includes:

Legislative Advocacy

For 75 years, The Arc has been at the forefront of the fight for the civil rights and inclusion of people with disabilities and their families.

We fought to close institutions and make life in the community possible. We opened school doors for students with disabilities to be included in the classroom alongside peers. We advocated for affordable health care access, employment, financial security and more. We are at the table for every major public policy fight and advancement impacting the lives of people with disabilities. We partner with Arc chapters across the state to forward legislative priorities at the local, state, and national level. We still have work to do, but we know we can succeed with our policy experts working hand-in-hand with activists like you.
